William McLaughlin RSS
My goal is to teach solid math skills so that students will be well equipped to solve math problems with the right set of tools.  I believe that anything we want to be proficient at, takes practice.  My philosophy is that homework allows students to practice the set of skills they have been taught, and to deepen their understanding and their skills.  I provide answers and feedback to their practice and I show them how to correct any mistakes that they have made.  To be successful in my class, students need to bring a pencil, notebook, and a willingness to learn.  I provide them notes and step by step instructions, followed by examples.  These "Cornell Notes" are the foundation of their work that they do at home.
I am an old school teacher, in that I am teaching the students the skills that they need to succeed and that through their practice, students will become more proficient and will discover deeper knowledge of the concepts and may begin to develop other strategies of solving problems.
